Usokae festival is a Shinto ritual held at Tenmangu shrine. It is said that
if you buy a wooden mascot Uso bird (a Japanese bullfinch), the mascot will
change all of the bad symptoms which will happen to you into untrue (in
Japanese "Uso"), therefore all that happen to you is good events in this year.
In Tohoku area, this festival is held only at this shrine.

|
In usual year, this festival is held from 13 to 16 January. However, it was
thought that more and more people who desire to change all bad events
related to the disaster to good events would attend the festival. Therefore,
this festival was started at 12 January, one day before compared to usual
year.

I went to the festival at the morning of 13 January, the first day in usual
year. It was not so crowded at there, maybe because the festival started
one day before. In fact, according to what I heard, it was so crowded at
12 January. Also, wooden mascots of Uso bird sized "L" (most popular size)
were already sold out.
